Our governors

Our federated governing body is made up of volunteers from Ethelred, Holmewood, Triangle, Effra  and Maytree communities. Members include parents, staff and people in the community and local authority who are interested and want to help us develop to meets the needs of children and families in the community.  The whole governing body meet 3 times a year and comprises of 15 people: the executive headteacher, 1 local authority governor, 1 staff governor, 2 parent governors and 10 co-opted governors (see below for further details).  Local Authority governors are voted in by the governing body, Staff governors are elected by the staff across the 5 schools in the federation. Parent governors are elected by parents from the 5 schools in the federation and are voted in for a term of 4 years.

The governing body is the schools' accountable body.  It is responsible for the conduct of the school and for promoting high standards.  The governing body aims to ensure that children are attending a successful school:
  • where all children are encouraged to develop, learn and grow, and everyone is excited by learning;
  • where staff work together, are keen to develop professionally, and have pride in their contribution to making the school successful
  • where children and families are at the heart of provision, which is highly regarded by the local community.
The governing body has delegated responsibility to the Individual School Committees and the Resources Committee  for providing strategic oversight and ensuring accountability in the following areas: teaching, learning, children's achievement, safeguarding, finance, human resources, premises and health and safety.

Please read the Annual Governance Statement 2020 - 21 to find out more about the governors' achievements.

Paper copies of governing body agendas and minutes can be requested at the School Office.
