Welcome |
News update.... |
As Acting Head of School, I extend a warm welcome on behalf of Ethelred Nursery School & Children’s Centre. We have been delivering Early Years provision for children since 1975 and Children Centre services for families since 2004. At Ethelred, children are at the centre of all that we do and we are committed to working in partnership with parents and carers to secure the best outcomes for our children and their families.
We were thrilled to move into our brand new school and centre in September 2018. It is a light and spacious modern building which the children and parents love. Our new facility will allow us to revise and expand our early years services. We feel our children and families deserve to have the very best and we welcome the opportunity to continue to serve our local community. Ethelred is now part of the Lambeth Nursery Schools Federation comprising the 5 Lambeth Nursery Schools. This development is welcome as it will allow us to work more effectively together, whilst retaining our unique identities. Our website provides information about who we are, what we believe and what we provide for children and families in our local area. Our nursery provision offers free places to children who are 3 and 4 years old and we also provide additional places for 2 year olds under the early learning offer. Paid places are also available. Our Children’s Centre works in partnership with health and other providers to deliver family services, drop-ins and training courses. We welcome visits and enquires, so please contact us on 0207 582 9711 to arrange a visit and seek further information or contact our admin officer for any paper copies you might find useful. We look forward to hearing from you. Catherine Byrne Acting Head of School Rachel Hedley Executive Headteacher |
Covid 19 update.
We have carried out a very thorough risk assessment, which conforms with government guidance and aims to protect everyone who uses our centre. We have put new procedures in place to reduce the spread of the virus. These include reorganising the timetable to reduce the number of people your child will be in contact with during the day, limiting the number of visitors to the site and promoting social distancing between families outside of the nursery entrances. We are carrying out regular and thorough hand washing and deep cleaning of all spaces daily. A copy of our COVID-19 risk assessment can be found here. If you are looking for a nursery place for your child please contact us on the details below, or complete the simple form here. For the time being our Children Centre will not be offering any group activities and we are not open to the general public, other than for health sessions by appointment only. For further information, please click here. If you need any family or personal support or advice you can complete a self referral form via the Lambeth website or call the Ethelred number directly and one of our Better Start team will be in touch. Please take care and follow the advice given by the government to help control the spread of this virus. It is very important that you and your children continue to limit contact with others outside of your home, and keep a safe distance from others. Please visit the Healthy Start website to find out if you can apply for vouchers to help buy some basic foods. You can find out more about the help available with funding your childcare on the new government website Childcare Choices and also at Lambeth Parent Portal.

![]() Attached is a really helpful document for parents to read and use regarding Black Lives Matter. It gives some background about the movement, contains a guide about how to discuss these issues with your children and may be a very useful tool for families to explain how important racial equality is. We hope you find it useful.
