We're moving to our new school in August!
We're very excited to announce that we now have a firm date for moving to our new purpose-built Nursery School and Children's Centre. The building will be complete by August 3rd and we're planning to move in during the week starting 13th August ready for Autumn term in September.
The new school is on the same site as our old Lollard Street building but access will be much easier, from Gundulf Street just off Kennington Road. The school is designed around a central playground nestling in the middle of old and new hi-rise affordable housing. We're on two floors, with the Nursery School on the ground floor and the Children's Centre on the first, accessible from stairs and a lift. We'll have our own kitchen so meals will be cooked on the premises. We're increasing our provision to care for young children from 6 months right through to rising 5 year olds, with childcare and nursery school places from 8.00am through to 6.00pm.
Here's a couple of pictures showing the building progress inside the building:
Left: here's the new Children's Centre reception on the first floor.
Below: this shows the playground with a new hi-rise housing block behind. You'll see that there are no windows overlooking the playground (except windows to the stairwell).
