Spring vegetable gardening

It's spring at Ethelred, and the children are learning about where vegetables come from by sowing seeds and watering plants in our garden. The photo shows children watering radish seeds with great care to avoid dislodging the seeds, and after watering the pot were put indoors until the seeds germinate. The children sowed carrot seeds as well, and watered the broad bean plants which were sown in January.

There are spinach, beetroot and lettuce seeds to sow in modules later this week. During the summer term when the crops are ready, the children will harvest them and make delicious vegetable dishes with a teacher.
